Karla Caves

Karla Caves are the real ancient Indian Buddhist rock-cut cave shrines located near Lonavala. Majority of shrines were developed between the periods as early as 2nd BC century to 5th BC Century, however few of them are even 160BC old if the researches are right. The architecture of the place is magnificent and mesmerizing. The place speaks volumes about the culture followed at that time and marks a line between the north India and south India as well as the trade center of that time.

Visapur Fort

Lonavala is a part of history because of the old Visapur fort it has. This fort is 1084 meters above from the sea level, and was built by the first Peshwa of the Maratha Empire known as Balaji Vishwanath. The fort is in the close proximity to Lohagad. Bhushi Dam

Normally places like dams are not included in the tourist destinations but in 2014, the Indian Railways department along with some private companies announced to develop the place as a beautiful tourist destination and today they have succeeded in the task. The dam was originally built in late 1860s to help the Great Indian Peninsular Railway for steaming their engines. Now the dam is owned by the Indian Railways (Central Region).
